WELCOME TO CHLOEHCREATES

Chloe, the artist and founder of Chloehcreates was born in Manchester, UK and has always shown a flare for anything artistic, appreciating the smallest details in everyday life:

'When I was a child, I used to love making structural models, particularly out of natural materials. Whether that be a garden fairy house from moss and twigs, or a print using an array of found objects, I'd always think past an objects functionality.’

With this natural passion and artistic awareness, Chloe continued her artistic pursuits through to university and postgraduate education in Fine Art and Arts Management. This is where her distinct abstract style begun to form. This language aimed to create a harmonious balance of every layer of the painting, their colours, their shapes, and thus, the complete composition.

‘I think that being brought up in a city, yet always being taught about nature and environment preservation has formulated my interests of form and the environment. Moving to the countryside for university was definitely the driving force behind the rekindling of natural material exploration.'

Beyond formal learning, Chloe was involved in varying arts roles and alongside this begun to build her own art business Chloehcreates, where she managed an online shop alongside commissioned works. This transpired when she decided to move from the UK to Portugal to gain new inspirations and experiences, living in a completely different environment. This has shaped her practice today, as the natural landscape continually enhances her work.

‘I use inspiration of the changing landscape to create fluid lines and shapes, creating contrasts such as: rough and smooth, matte and gloss, light and dark and so forth. To achieve this, I carefully position each element in a systematic way so everything comes together as one finished composition. I am now using the landscape for every aspect of my work, rather than drawing on some elements and embellishing others.’

This takes us to the present, where Chloe has accepted her first gallery residence and is hoping to bring her abstract art to an audience that share her passion for the surrounding landscape.
