Back to the Rainy City

Well, after residing in the beautiful Algarve for 2 years, I have taken the decision that my time here has somewhat run its course (or for the meantime at least). This place has given me so much artistic inspiration, freedom and opportunity, and I am proud of the achievements I have made during the time that I have spent here. Some of these include:

- Growing my business and client base

- Being commissioned every month in 2022 & most months In 2021.

- Representation from 2 galleries, inc. the largest Algarve gallery

- Working as a Gallery Online Presence & Administration Manager

- Organising monthly art events

- Selling pieces to international clients through my representations

- Obtaining my first commission from an Instagram follower

- Offering art in artisan stores and restaurants

Most importantly, gaining confidence in my credibility as an artist.

So, what gives?

All this seems successful when written down, yet in an opposing light, in my personal life, being in a small village solo not knowing anyone and having the challenge of being an introverted person, I have struggled greatly to live ‘normally’.

I miss the small things. Catching a bus and seeing Manchester change on a daily basis, pottering around the arts and craft market in NQ. Admiring peoples fashion choices and checking out new food spots with my sister. Things I took for granted when I left.

One thing about me is that I will always follow my heart, take plunges into the unknown and try new things – of course, that’s what brought me to Portugal in the first place. But now my heart needs familiarity, family and friends.

Here’s to new opportunities back in the motherland and cheers to making the right choices for you!
