Understanding the Unknown- What Does My 'Abstract Art' Mean?

I am Chloe, the founder of Chloehcreates. I began this business after many years of thinking and experiencing culture post art school. I have always wanted to achieve art that evokes perfect colour, form and texture, but I was yet to find a distinct style that embodied these elements, that I found enjoyable to make and, most importantly, that people would love to have in their homes.

So, what do these painterly elements mean to me?

COLOUR

Colour has always been a concept that greatly interested me. Even from being a small child, I loved how natural colours complimented each other, like lavender in a meadow or trees against the ever-changing sky. The beauty of something being able to frame any given situation and change the mood of that around it.

FORM

This aspect became important to me through my Fine Art degree. I began to look more closely at the way things were made, their shape, their properties- particularly organic bodies such as cells, mould, plants and movement of materials such as liquid. These aspects of life seem completely irrelevant to the majority of us, but by sitting down and focusing in on such small details, something beautiful can be found. I created a language to depict this, by juxtaposing very complex elements with very simplistic shapes. The two seemed to marry one other, they went hand in hand.

TEXTURE

Texture is a newly discovered aspect of my work. Texture seems to enhance this idea of complexity harmonious with simplicity. Texture creates a whole new dimension, new feeling. Imagine touching a rough surface that runs through your body as it tickles your skin. Texture can evoke memory, how soft something once felt or that shiny toy you had as a child. This is the purpose of this addition.

PURPOSE

Alongside the desire to create a feeling from my abstract work, I wanted to create pieces that perfectly complement sleek, modern, yet homely interior - something that really reflects my personal style. Using minimalist, clean frames not only ties the pieces together, they allow the pop of colour to shine through in any space.

AIMS

When producing abstract art, I aim to create beautiful, one off pieces, finished to an excellent standard. I want my clients to feel their needs are met, so they can enjoy their art from the moment they enquire to the finished product hanging in their intended habitat. I aim to use the best quality materials, taking a sustainable approach, and in time, put some of the profits back into what made me take this journey all those years ago- a love for our natural world.
